My name is Nick and I grew up very christian-like. I firmly believed in a God, a supreme being that created and guided us. About a week ago I was just fiddling around on the internet and somehow got reading about taoism, and it intrigued me, so I continued reading. I'm currently reading the Tao Te Ching, it's a new translation of it, and in the beginning it really analyzes religion, and it made me realize what religion really is, and how it is meant to keep humans in line, but also to give us a bit of hope, and morality structure.

Well, the more I read the more I can tell this taoism is some real stuff. I live in Canada, in a small town, and don't know anybody else into taoism, and I found this forum, so I can see myself joining in around here and being able to talk to some like minded people.

So here's a few things to introduce myself:

1. I am a techy guy (iq about 128)
2. I make music (all sorts)
3. My humor is very dry and sarcastic, but transparently sarcastic.
4. From Nova Scotia, Canada
5. I like making short lists

So how did some of you get into taoism, and what are your thoughts about it?
